10 Everyday Spells to do this Fall

The mornings are chilly, the leaves are changing and life is balancing out again thanks to the calming energy of Libra! Autumn is here!

Here are some fun and interesting things to do this Fall to connect to the winds of change and align with the symbolism of death in its many forms. Grab your pumpkin spice latte and get comfy, let's do some magic!

First things first: Change your look. A new season can mean a new you! Update your wardrobe or your hair style. Do something new that makes you feel happy and refreshed. Get comfortable and cozy with your cute self.

Go out and treat yourself to something nice. This could be a part of your new look, or just something to get you into the fall spirit. Get a tattoo, learn how to play new instrument, take a class to learn a new skill, buy that book you’ve been wanting to read, make a homemade bath bomb with colors of the changing leaves, or buy a comfy new sweater, scarf or gloves! And of course… indulge in pumpkin flavored everything!

Visit a cemetery. There’s nothing better than talking a sunset walk through a cemetery in the fall. There is something so peaceful and calming about an autumn cemetery. Entertain your imagination and wonder about the afterlife. Ask yourself what a persons life may have been like and use your intuition to listen to their stories. With mother nature shedding her skin around you, you can see and feel that death is everywhere. Death is a part of life. Find a nice way to honor the dead, however you wish and enjoy the energy of endings.

Take it a step further and pick out some autumn leaves for your altar and do an autumn ritual. Meditate on gratitude, the abundance of life from mother earth, harvest and the symbolism of death.

Connect with nature through a hike, walk, drive or bike ride. Find a relaxing way to appreciate the bursts of color all around. Go out and get active! Autumn is the perfect time of year to gain new perspectives and "get lost to be found" so to speak. Take an adventure to somewhere new and spend time in unfamiliar scenery.

Rearrange your furniture. Nothing says stagnant energy like furniture that has been in the same place for a year! Change it up! Tis the season for NEWNESS! Paint your bedroom a new color, flip your couch to another wall and put your dishes into a different cabinet. You’ll appreciate the surprisingly positive effect it can have on your daily routines.

Clean out your (physical and emotional) spaces to make room for the new things to come! Go through your stuff and sell or donate what you don’t use. Donating coats and jackets this time of year REALLY makes a difference to those in need.

Give back and give thanks! This goes hand in hand with donating your used items. Tis the season to give! When out for lunch with a friend, pick up the bill. Let your boss know that you appreciate what they do to make your day at the office awesome with a handwritten card. Call up your grandmother, ask her for stories and tell her you love her. Thank those around you for being their wonderful selves and spend time with the ones you love. Pay it forward by helping a stranger with their groceries or simply giving a nice compliment to a passerby. The colder weather can have some profound emotional impacts on people and it's easy to forget that some people suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) so do your part in shining your light and making the world a magical place to live!

Get a Tarot reading. I’m not just saying this because I give tarot readings! I really mean it. The winds of change are blowing and the blessed, ancient energies of Autumn can provide some really intense and juicy insight for the long, dark, chilly nights to come. A tarot reading can better prepare you for Winter and help you find clarity; illuminating your place in the bigger picture.

Visit a pumpkin patch, corn maze or haunted house! Bundle up in your warm clothes and go out with some friends for a fall time adventure. This is also a great opportunity to coordinate your Halloween costumes 😉

Make a playlist of all your current fave songs. I can’t think of a better way to get into the fall spirit than making an epic autumn playlist! Some of my favorite fall sounds come from artists like Feist, Interpol, Westbound Train, The Swell Season and Death Cab for Cutie.

Happy First Day of Fall ya’ll! Thanks for reading! What are some of your favorite things to do in Autumn?
