A Crash Republic "Homewreckers: Sweet Apathy"
Unleashed like a jack in the box, “Homewreckers: Sweet Apathy” is a sudden, colorful, burst of fun. It is a spring loaded punch of electric energy, illuminating excellence in musicianship and songwriting.
Nick (guitar, vocals, production), Steve (drums) and Andrew (guitar, bass and production) started out with a love for metal and proudly keep it centered as the heartbeat of A Crash Republic’s refined pop punk sound.
The lyrics are thoughtful and confessional, detailing the growing pains of a young truth-seeker trying to find their way through the unpredictable highs and lows of life. Nick’s writing is eloquent and passionately stated. Quite a few lines read like poetry.
“Apathy, sweet apathy, my futile lash at thee
This conquered gaze I flaunt for days will make you pity me
Bore slightly and persist for quite the anarchist
I should have knocked on wood I’m shocked I stood so close to this”
Themes like growing up, disappointment, determination, heartbreak and perseverance are no stranger to the pop punk genre, but the delivery here is quite refreshing. One of my favorite aspects of this collection of songs is the melodic prowess and crisp production. Their attention to detail is a welcomed surprise in the genre . A concise crash of dynamic instrumental expertise matches the stories to go along with it, balancing delicately the sounds and feelings of what it means to be a true misanthrope.
This is a burgeoning project, entitled lovingly, A Crash Republic. This EP is the first of a series, highlighting an overarching story of the unsung hero.
If you love face melting guitar solos, fun choruses and breakdowns like me, you’ll find it easy to sing along and air guitar to! It’s even complete with a cappella vocal chorus at the end of “Watch Your Luck” which is quite a treat!
